During the first week of September I received a phone call from my dear friend Martin. He told me of the fantastic fishing that he had recently experienced downstream of Dobrá village. According to Martin the skies had been overcast and water levels were high, but apparently the grayling were jumping clear out of the water to take mayfly duns. Our telephone conversation had really sparked my interest, so the very next Sunday (September 6, 2009) I set out on a fishing adventure to explore the Upper Vltava River, within the Bohemian Forest, in an area that the Czech people commonly refer to as “The Sumava Mountains”.

A lot of people think that Czech Nymphing is about long rods (10+ foot), three heavy nymphs (leadbombs) and fishing with only a short line.

Part 5: LAKE OF MENTEITH. "THE MOST IMPORTANT 3-HOURS FISHING OF MY WHOLE LIFE"
THIS is the session I'm looking forward to most. I've never cast a fly into Menteith before so this is going to be a tough test.
On a high from my previous session and knowing Davie Parker took first place the session before me on this venue, I'm quietly confident I'll catch. England had mixed fortunes on this water, Howard Croston fished magnificently to match Davie Parker's position with a first place in the first session of the competition but others didn't fare so well.
