I created my first table of medals for countries and individuals based on medals from the World Championship before the “Czech Championship“ in Český Krumlov in 1996. Since this time I have extended these tables by tables of medals from European Championships and Youth Championships. For longer time I was thinking of making such an absolute chart of individuals based on positions in World Championships, but I never managed it due to two reasons. Of course, this was a lack of time and results from the beginning of competitions, which I am missing. The second problem, which disattracted me, was the question how to do it, because there were some who took part only once, but there are such experts who took part more than ten times.

These tables are generally accepted and they were mentioned at the last session of FIPS-Mou in Dresden, Germany. The new FIPS – Mou Board has finally realized their deeper sense. They reacted to such an activity by making the absolute order of individuals according to the won medals at World Championships. When I watched this chart at the FIPS-Mou´s website I was happy that someone has done it instead of me. I suppose that the author of this table was the FIPS-Mou first vice-president Mario Podmaník.

However, Mario is a young man and some small mistakes have occurred. Just after the first reading I have found that something is not right. Tony Pawson from England was relatively high with two gold medals. The author counted together gold medals of father and son under one name. I have taken my materials and have found several other mistakes. I have not found one medal holder in the list at all, and the second name was in the list maybe by mistake. But I am not perfect either. If somebody would like to help me to complete some first names of competitors, I would really appreciate it.

And there is the corrected table. I know personally know 58 competitors out of 72. The Czechs are doing really well as in the first top ten there are four of them. It´ s a pity that  Tomáš Starýchfojtů stopped competing as he was able to get near or to overcome the famous Frenchman Pascal Cognard. Both Antonin Pešek and especially Martin Drož, who is the youngest and is one of the biggest hopes for future, might improve their scores.
